Barnetrygd - family allowance is one of the basic benefits for people who have children in Norway.
It is due from one month after the birth of the child or from the month in which the conditions for obtaining the allowance are met. It is paid until the month in which the child reaches the age of 18 inclusive. When can you get child benefit and cash benefits?
To be eligible for Child Benefit, you must meet the following conditions
You must have income subject to social security contributions in Norway. For example, under an employment contract, running a business or receiving benefits equivalent to work. These are parental benefits (foreldrepenger), rehabilitation, sickness, nursing care or unemployment benefit, ·
Pay social security contributions in Norway
Be permanently registered with your children. If you live in Norway with your family: When the whole family lives in Norway. You are entitled to child benefit and cash benefits. This applies to all foreigners living in Norway. The condition is registration in the national register and possession of a residence permit, or legal residence for other reasons.
If you work in Norway and your family lives in Poland
If the parent who lives in Poland. Has a job or receives a benefit equivalent to work and is entitled to child benefit and cash benefit from Poland. If the allowance from Poland is lower than the allowance in Norway, NAV will pay the difference between the allowances.
If a parent who lives in Poland is not employed and does not receive benefits equivalent to work, he or she is entitled to full benefits benefit payments the child is provided by a parent working in Norway. EEA nationals working on a Norwegian ship or on the Norwegian continental shelf are equal to foreign workers working on the Norwegian mainland. The exception are sailors living in Latvia, Poland and Romania who work on ships registered in the "Norwegian International Ship Register". This applies to social security laws in Latvia, Poland or Romania. The current amount of the benefit is DKK 1.054,00 for each child. Single parents may also receive an additional benefit (utvidet barnetrygd).
Extended child allowance is child allowance for one more child than you actually live. Documents needed to submit the application:
- birth certificates of children - on EU forms or in abbreviated form of translations into English / Norwegian,
- valid marriage certificate (if valid) - on the EU form or in a shortened form of translation into English / Norwegian,
- a copy of the employment contract or other documentation confirming employment. In the case of self-employed persons - balance sheet, extract from the register of persons running a business, and a printout of the settlement with customers.
- statement of annual income for the last tax year (lønnsoppgave),
- registration of residence in Norway or a residence permit (registeringsbevis and/ or residence permit),
- all salary sections for the current tax year,
- identity document - ID card or passport of the person applying for the care allowance
