Insurance differences

Home insurance covers all fixed elements such as: walls, chimney, windows, doors. In turn, property insurance, which is commonly called in Norway Innbo to put it simply, these are all those things that, as if we turned the house upside down and shook it, we classify everything that would fall out of it, i.e. furniture, jewelry, clothes, household appliances or electronics and the like.

Breakdown of insurance into options

Home insurance can be divided into: insurance company : great or standard. Standard insurance is worth considering when you have either completed a major renovation or are fed up with it new home.

Standard option includes, for example:

  • Fire
  • Water and pipe damage
  • Theft or burglary
  • Natural damage, e.g. a gale
  • Damage caused by mice or rats
  • Coverage for damages caused by tenants
  • Civil or legal liability

A great option is recommended especially if the house is quite old and we are not entirely sure what exactly is in it.

A great option additionally includes:

  • Reconstruction of the house after an accident (for disabled person as a result of an accident, e.g. road)
  • Derivative damage caused by water ingress through the roof or walls
  • Derivatives after a construction worker error
  • Damage to the bathroom (often limited to 10 years)
  • Fungi and molds
  • Pests and insects, e.g. cockroaches and ants

Always insure your property is your lifetime achievement

Many of our compatriots wonder whether it is worth investing in property insurance (Innbo) if we rent a house or a flat. It should be especially remembered that when renting a house, we should not pay the owner of home insurance (i.e. the previously mentioned fixed elements of the house, such as walls), but take care of our private belongings. When renting a flat, remember that it is our duty to take care of our property, because if there is a fire or flooding, we will be left with nothing. We should especially remember that, when a tragedy occurs, the insurance company provides a substitute apartment and pays compensation for individual items that we have in the house or apartment. Remember that if you insure not your home, you will not get any compensation. However, in the case of property insurance, yes. The difference is about 5000/10000 Nok per year.

Take photos of everything

The question arises, how can we prove to the insurance company that we actually owned the things? First of all, we recommend taking photos or recording videos of everything we have, let's make a folder and put all this data in our e-mail. Thanks to this, in stressful situations it will be easier for us to remember what we really have, not to mention the perfect proof for the insurance company.

It's also worth rememberingthat by purchasing the super or innbo plus option, we can receive compensation for a stolen, flooded or broken phone. This means that we do not need to purchase additional insurance when purchasing a smartphone. The own contribution in such a case, depending on the insurer, ranges from 500 to 2000 kr.

In addition, we can receive compensation for all our stolen items outside the home, for example: a bicycle, up to 40 kr.

Removal

When we move to a new place flat such insurance additionally covers items damaged during transport. Among other things: TV, regardless of whether we use the help of a transport company or do it on our own.

Summation

Finally, it is also worth mentioning that if we have home or property insurance, we can count on legal assistance from the insurance company. It is worth checking what the own contribution is, in many cases it is 4 kr plus 000% of the total invoice issued by the lawyer.
