Foreign workers and entrepreneurs traveling to Norway

Are you a foreign worker or entrepreneur traveling to Norway to work / contract? Make sure you have everything ready before coming to Norway.

This you have to do

Before coming to Norway

1. Make sure the work you will be doing is not covered entry restrictions to Norway (only in Norwegian, regjeringen.no). If you have any questions, please contact your employer or client.

2. You must register entry to Norway in the entrynorway.no registry.

3. Your employer or principal must provide you with documentation confirming that the premises for the entry quarantine are approved by the State Labor Inspectorate (Arbeidstilsynet):

  • Accepted accommodation during the entry quarantine is usually a special quarantine hotel
  • Alternatively, it may be approved accommodation provided by the employer/client. The employer/client applies for prior approval of the accommodation from the National Labor Inspectorate (Arbeidstilsynet). More information for employers or clients (only in Norwegian).

4. You must have a Covid-19 test negative certificate. The test must be done no sooner than 24 hours before the planned entry into Norway. More information about the documentation for a negative test result (helsenorge.no).

5. The following documents must be presented during border control, otherwise you may be refused entry to Norway:

  • proof that you are exempt from entry restrictions
  • if you will not be staying in a special quarantine hotel, you must provide a document from your employer or client confirming that the premises for the entry quarantine are approved by the State Labor Inspectorate (Arbeidstilsynet)
  • receipt registration himself w registerze entrynorway.no    
  • negative Covid-19 test performed within 24 hours prior to arrival

Upon arrival in Norway

6. When entering Norway, you must perform a new test for Covid-19 at the airport or border crossing. Everyone who is not staying in the quarantine hotel is also obliged to take another test on the 7th day after arrival. More information about the tests (helsenorge.no).

7. You must be in a 10-day quarantine.Find out more about the entry quarantine (helsenorge.no).

8. The National center for control of travelers to Norway will contact you by SMS or by phone. It will then inform you about the applicable regulations. The control center can also notify the National Labor Inspectorate (Arbeidstilsynet) and the municipalities that will monitor travelers.

You are obliged to comply with the regulations regarding protection against infection and the spread of Covid-19 in Norway. See the list of regulations and recommendations (only in Norwegian, helsenorge.no)
