Cheaper health and safety cards

Many brokerage firms make good money selling health and safety cards to Norwegian companies. The Norwegian Labor Inspectorate encourages companies to order OHS cards directly in their updated and simple ordering system. Then the cards will be much cheaper than when using external providers.

All companies offering cleaning services or carrying out work on construction sites must provide employees with a health and safety card. The requirement applies to both Norwegian and foreign employees and sole proprietorships.

Only the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate issues health and safety cards, and the official website for ordering cards is hmskort.no .

Price discrepancy

Intermediary companies that want to sell health and safety cards contact many companies in the construction and cleaning industry. The common feature of the offer is that health and safety cards cost many times more than if the company itself ordered them directly from the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate.

So a card that costs just over a hundred kronor at the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate can cost anywhere from 600 to 1000 kroner with other intermediary companies. Many providers of this service are therefore very well paid for ordering OSH cards on behalf of the company.

Fraud related to health and safety cards

There are also dishonest suppliers who do not intend to help you order the card. WITH Norwegian Labor Inspectorate "We have always been contacted by desperate companies who ordered and paid for occupational health and safety cards, but ultimately did not receive them," says leader Ørnulf Halmrast in the approvals and notifications section of the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate.

Employees cannot be hired without a health and safety card or documentation that the employer ordered the card. If the ordered cards do not arrive, the company could face difficulties, both executive and financially, says Halmrast.

Double payment

Several health and safety card vendors contact start-ups and sole proprietorships. They do this through both telephone sales and targeted marketing, for example via search engines.

The Norwegian Labor Inspectorate knows about several cases where both companies and sole proprietorships have paid for health and safety cards in advance and the payment has not been received by the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate.

- This could lead to the company receiving an invoice from the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate, in addition to the price the suppliers have already paid, explains Halmrast.

The request of the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate is therefore clear: Order a card Occupational health and safety directly from them at hmskort.no. Then you avoid expensive intermediaries and have complete certainty that the order will reach us and that you will receive the card.

Easier ordering page and identity checks

The Norwegian Labor Inspectorate has recently launched an updated version of the hmskort.no website. Both language and functionality have been analyzed to facilitate the ordering of OHS cards. In the meantime, they have made it easier to manage multiple card orders at once.

The "health and safety cards" application was also launched. Here, the employees themselves can upload both a portrait photo and a photo of their ID card. This makes ordering and delivery faster and smoother. The app can be downloaded to your phone from the app store.

The hmskort.no ordering site was first launched in January 2020. This first version had some technical weaknesses that could lead to long delivery times and customer frustration.

- We tested the updated solution and application together with other companies, with satisfactory results. Work will continue in the future, and any improvements will be made in 2022, says Halmrast.
