With the coronavirus disease on the rise in Europe, insurance company Tryg is asking people to wait before booking their travel. They say the trip could be canceled due to the pandemic.

- The COVID-19 pandemic in Europe is getting worse by the day. Stay home until infections drop, says communications manager Ole Irgens at Tryg.

– Those who will take the chance now leaving Norway. They may risk having their trip canceled or severely restricted due to the situation at their destination. We advise you not to plan trips abroad now, but wait until the pandemic stabilizes, he says.

Irgens stresses that the travel insurance does not cover the costs due to the national measures of the visited country regarding the pandemic, such as Austria introduced on Monday this week.

- Only travel advice issued by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is eligible for cancellation of travel insurance, says Irgens.
