In June 2021, two people found large amounts of cash packed in sacks at Mosseskogen. Investigation and guidance from the public led the police to an old case involving the sale of large quantities of drugs. Now the matter is settled.
- The clue was that the perpetrator had hidden money in the forest, and that the money could come from selling a lot of drugs in 2006-2009 in Østfold, police lawyer Stian Moltke-Hansen Tveten said
As a result of the investigation, the man was charged with aggravated laundering and concealing cash from drug trafficking. Some time after the charges were filed, the police received feedback from Norges Bankthat the exact amount of money was NOK 1.
- The case was settled without prosecution, but the entire amount was confiscated in cash. NOK 1, summarizes police lawyer Stian Moltke-Hansen Tveten in the Eastern Police District.
The finders, however, will not be left with anything
Police are delighted that the cash finders contacted them as soon as they found out about what they found. The finders, however, will not be left with anything and will receive a percentage of the found, almost 200 crowns to be distributed.
