The Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, in cooperation with the Ukrainian ambassador Vyacheslav Jaczuk, started the operation of sending computer and telecommunications equipment to Ukraine.

- So far, seven companies and one commune have provided Ukraine with computer and telecommunications equipment. This is about six to seven Euro-pallets with several hundred kilograms of equipment. This is an important contribution to maintaining digital communication in areas hit hard by the war so that family and friends can be reached, said Sigbjørn District Minister Gjelsvik.

Smartphones, computers, network equipment, modems ...

At the end of March this year. The Ministry of Local and Poviat Affairs has started collecting digital equipment for Ukraine. The equipment collected so far includes smartphones, computers, network equipment such as routers, switches and servers. In addition, equipment was donated that will help increase the coverage of the cellular network in areas where cellular networks are severely damaged.

"The hardware that contributes to the expansion of cellular coverage is absolutely essential to ensure communications in areas heavily hit by war," says Gjelsvik.

Such equipment will also be useful during the reconstruction of Ukraine

- Action weighs more than words, and this project is another tangible example of Norway's practical solidarity with the Ukrainian nation in its heroic fight for our freedom and our common European values. Digital equipment belongs to the category of critical products in Ukraine. The importance of these deliveries from Norway at this crucial moment cannot be overestimated. I thank Minister Gjelsvik and his ministry for the leadership they have shown to achieve this. On behalf of the Ukrainian Government and all my compatriots, I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all Norwegian companies that have already contributed or are considering contributing to this important effort. I also have no doubts that after Ukraine wins this civilization war, our two countries will raise the mutually beneficial cooperation in the IT sector to a new level - says Ambassador Wiaczesław Jaciuk.

Such equipment will also come in handy in the time to rebuild the country. Ukraine needs even more mobile phones, modems, computers, batteries, servers and network equipment.

- We hope that even more will contribute to this. It is very important that the donated equipment is working, fully functional and can be used quickly, says Gjelsvik.
