- Norway is already one of the largest contributors to the program of medical evacuation of civilians from the war in Ukraine. Norwegian hospitals will now also accept wounded soldiers, says Justice and Crisis Management Minister Emilie Enger Mehl.

Treatment of injured soldiers is part of Norway's contribution to the EU's Emergency Mechanism (UCPM) within the pre-established Medevac 550 patient framework.

- Norway has no experience in the medical evacuation of wounded soldiers from the ongoing conflict. There was a need to ensure that according to the regulations, the inclusion of injured soldiers in a medical evacuation plan was legal, says Mehl.
