It will make it easier for the residents
- We believe that this service will bring more satisfied residents. Now they don't have to spend unnecessary time at the police station and can log into politiet.no from home from their own living room, says Runar Karlsen, director of traffic at the Police Directorate.
In addition to having more satisfied residents, one of the goals of this service is to reduce the number of inquiries from residents who have questions about penalty points on their driving license. It is also a more effective control of situations in which police officers will not have to spend time checking and answering drivers' questions about their penalty points.

Greater traffic safety
- Drivers with knowledge of their penalty points are likely to be more careful than those who do not. You're probably less risky in traffic if you see the number of points approaching eight, comments Karlsen.
As a reminder, if you earn eight points in three years, you will lose your driving license for six months. If you are registered with four or more points, you will receive a warning from the police.
