On the Norwegian side, this means that people over 16 years of age can identify themselves with a passport that expired less than three years before entering Greece. Children under the age of 16 can identify themselves with a passport that expired less than one year before entering Greece.

It is recommended to use direct flights

– I am glad that we received such a response from the Greek authorities. It enables citizens Norway using outdated passports as ID when traveling to Greece. However, you should be aware that traveling abroad without a valid ID carries risks. We have no guarantee that the authorities' information about the program will reach all carriers and tourist entities. Therefore, travelers are advised to use direct flights, says Minister of Justice and Crisis Management Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp).

Outdated Norwegian passports for children

Passports for children have a shorter validity period, and the limit of one year is established, inter alia, due to the risk of child abduction.
