In the national budget for 2023, the government proposed to extend the electricity subsidy program for households. This proposal is intended to cover energy consumption up to and including December 2023. Minor adjustments to the subsidy rate are also proposed.
Extension of the electricity subsidy program
According to the government's proposal in the state budget, it is proposed to amend the law to extend the system of benefits for households until 2023. The proposal is now being submitted as a draft law to the Storting.
— When we presented the proposal for support for electricity, the most important thing was to quickly introduce the non-bureaucratic solution it would have reduce the burden of very high electricity prices on households. Almost a year later, we see that there is still a lot of uncertainty in energy markets about the future energy situation. Therefore, people should be confident that we will defend households as long as prices remain extremely high. That is why we are extending the program for the whole of next year, says Minister of Oil and Energy Terje Aasland.
