December 6 is a special day because we celebrate St. Nicholas Day - a holiday with deep roots dating back almost 900 years, closely related to the cult of St. Nicholas of Myra. This noble saint was famous for his generosity, giving all his wealth to support the poor.

One of the traditional customs of St. Nicholas Day is hanging stockings in which Santa Claus was supposed to leave gifts. For many years, December 6 was the day commemorating this saint, when gifts were given to each other.

St. Nicholas Day remains a time of joy

However, over the years, in the 20th century, the image of Santa Claus became increasingly associated with the fairy-tale character who visits children during Christmas. The modern "commercialized" Santa Claus, although he still gives gifts, is moving away from the original image of Saint Nicholas of Myra.

Despite the evolution of this tradition, St. Nicholas Day remains a time of joy, generosity and love, reminding us of the need to care for others and look for ways to spread goodness around us.
