Why is the alarm notification system being tested
Emergency notifications on mobile phones are tested on the entire population to familiarize them with receiving an emergency notification and to ensure that the system works as it should.
In a real-world situation, an emergency alert tells you what's happening and what you need to do to protect yourself.
Emergency notifications are tested every six months, on the second Wednesday of January and the second Wednesday of June. Testing is carried out to detect technical faults and familiarize the public with the sound and signal.
The tested alarm notification during testing is called "Important message - seek information". The notification consists of three sets with a one-minute break between sets. If you hear this signal, it practically means that you should look for information. Information about what is happening and how to behave is transmitted through various media, e.g. radio, television, websites authorities and social media.
