Frytt - Polish rapper in exile - Polish rapper in Norway

The Land of the Fjords is not only about finding a better job. It is also a chance to be able to pursue your passions. The best example of this is Krzysztof "Frytt" Frymarkiewicz, who has been living in Norway since 2009. We talk about the beginnings of his adventure with music, about his plans and the importance of music in his life on the pages of Wataha.no

Almost two decades on stage

Krzysztof "Frytt" Frymarkiewicz left his first lines in 2000 - then still as a member of the band PSI Pawłowicie (Poets Looking for Inspiration). Then he became a co-founder of Wyraz Twarzy Pawłowicie. After emigrating to Norway, he co-founded the EMGR together with the late Mateusz "Lolek" Bulas. Since the death of his friend, he has continued as a solo artist, and also works in a duet with Caesar.

Frytt - Polish rapper in exile. The Team of Champions and an Outstanding Pole

One of the greatest achievements is participation in the "Team of Champions" project. It happened thanks to an invitation from Roman Boski (known for, among others, the composition of "Firma"). Krzysztof "Frytt" Frymarkiewicz recorded a piece entitled “Way to the top. The music was produced by "Zbylu".

In turn, in 2017 he was awarded the Outstanding Pole in the "Personality of the Year" category. The commission appreciated not only his talent for creating music, but also his ability to unite representatives of various backgrounds. He also found recognition thanks to his involvement in charity work for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.

Your curriculum vitae shows that you came to Norway for work purposes. Do you regret your decision to leave?

I have never regretted my decision to emigrate, regardless of whether it was France or Norway, where I am still today. As of today, I am convinced that as a young family we had a better start when it comes to emigrating to the Land of the Fjords. However, it is difficult to express ourselves, because we have deprived ourselves of the chance to start such a start in Poland. I think that a business trip has its pros and cons. I try to approach it in such a way as not to regret anything.

You have been dealing with music for many years. What fascinated you about rap to such an extent that you started to create it?

As I raped this in a piece about my beginnings, "Those were the times" - my older brother bought me the first two tapes. In those days, Liroy, Hill Ya-Pa 3, Caliber 44, Sudden Attack of a Welder etc. reigned supreme. I will not hide that it was my older brother and the lyrics and the message from all these albums that had a huge impact on me. At that time, the first PSI Pawłowice band operated in my housing estate in Pawłowice. With time, my life turned so much that I recorded the first track and caught a sneak peak that never left me again. The only regret is that we ran out of persistence then, and it was the best time to get to the so-called "Mainstream".

What do you find most fascinating about music?

First of all, it is eternal. It can de-stress and relax every person. He can also make you nervous (laughs). You could say that music is like a second wife.

How do you rate the current trends in the music industry? Not annoying the massively used Autotune?

I follow what is happening on the rap scene in Poland all the time. I must admit that I am more fascinated by old sounds, which is commonly called "old school". Autotune is an interesting invention for people who want to sing, but can't quite do it (laughs). I was not able to delve into these issues, I do not deal with mixing and mastering, and it is the sound engineers who create such wonders. There are songs that sound interesting. In my opinion, Autotun is like everything - you have to feel it and have a feeling, and you can create something interesting. The music is moving forward all the time, which of course not everyone has to like.

Which rappers or musicians have had the greatest influence on your work? Are you inspired by someone?

There are several rappers in Poland who have been able to surprise me with their creativity for years, and thus have had a huge impact on me. In my opinion, the following rappers are in the forefront: Wojtek Sokół, VNM, Ten Typ Mes, Łona, Fokus i Rahim, Zeus, OSTR, Peja, not to mention the late A magician who probably had a huge impact on all listeners. When it comes to new styles, I am very impressed with what the SB Maffija label is doing. Białas and Solar are consistently heading towards the goal, thanks to which they have built a really solid label together. Białas himself is now definitely one of the best rappers in Poland.

Many "old players" are announcing their returns or have just released new albums. Are you waiting impatiently for someone's return?

I would love to record some songs in the old team from PSI Pawłowice myself, but it's not easy to make. Mainly because most of the people in this band don't record anymore. As for the first league, I am probably waiting the most for the solo album of Sokół. It is a pity that these albums often disappear among novelties from young rappers. It's just like with the great comeback of Kalibra 44 or all Pokahontaz albums. These are great releases, and yet they get lost somewhere on OLIS and other rankings.

Poles are extraordinary: Dominika "Domika" Łuczyńska - beautiful vocals in Norway >>>

One of the most interesting returns of the last weeks is the new album of Zipera. They are terribly fascinated with such albums, despite the fact that at times you can clearly hear the decline of both the form and the teasers compared to the previous discs. I especially recommend the piece entitled "Polarization" featuring Liroy. When I listened to it for the first time, I had shivers down my spine.

What are your publishing plans for the next year?

My most important plan for the coming months is to close a certain period and release most of the songs I have recorded. Ultimately, a solo album is to be created from this. The last songs from the album include, among others "Holiday chillout", we will record together with Dominika "Domika" Łuczyńska. Its premiere took place on the first day of summer holidays. Along with the premiere of the album, a clip for the song entitled "I put my heart into it", in which we will also hear Domika. It is thus the fulfillment of the promise of a joint project that we have been announcing for a long time.
