has over 1000 years of tradition. As a country with a monarchy, Norway is one of the few existing European countries that also has a royal family. The current king is Harald V, but do we know more? Below are some interesting facts about this topic.

King Harald V

Born on February 21, 1937. He has been King of Norway since January 17, 1991. He has two older sisters, but he became the king because in those days only men could inherit the right to the throne. He is an extremely talented man. In my life before he became King of Norway, studied at Oxford and additionally graduated from the Norwegian Cavalry Officers School. In his life also had plenty of it sport, as evidenced by his participation in the Olympic Games three times as a sailor. His wife is Sonja Haraldsen from Vinderen in Oslo. Unfortunately, the couple had to wait 9 years for consent to marry because the chosen one of the king's heart was from "the people" and had no connections with the royal family. They had two children. Son Haakon Magnus is the heir to the throne. An interesting fact is that King Harald V was the first Prince of Norway, born there for 567 years, and also the first king in 700 years to marry a Norwegian woman.

The Royal Family and their home

The Oslo Royal Palace is the current seat of the Norwegian Royal Family. However, this was not always the case. In the past, not every king preferred this place. It happened like this An Oscar II that he preferred a seaside villa on the peninsula Bygdøy. Only in 1905, when the Swedish-Norwegian union was dissolved, the Palace became the seat of Haakon VII. Unfortunately, the previous residents did not pay attention to the condition of the building, it was not renovated and was not taken care of. This largely resulted in its deplorable condition, which fortunately was saved by the current king. From the moment he took the throne he made a decision about the general renovation of the Palace. In 2002, the renovated part of the building was opened to visitors. There is a beautiful park around it, completely open to citizens and tourists. The Palace is said to be a relatively small, royal home. Compared to other royal family homes, it has "only" 173 rooms.

Scandals on the royal throne

Although Royal family Great Britain arouses more interest than many families of this type, but any scandal involving another royal family immediately lands on the pages of all newspapers. This was also the case this year, when it was said that young, Norwegian Prince Marius Borg Hoiby got involved with a young model Juliane Snekkestad. There would be nothing extraordinary about it if it were not for the fact that the young girl has often posed for newspapers such as Playboy, lipsy London or PrettyLittleThing. Additionally, the girl does not shy away from boldly showing off her body social media. After this incident, their photos together were quickly deleted, but now the couple does not hide their love. More and more often, we can see their photos together, which they post on their Instagram accounts. It seems that royalty She accepted that the youngest prince, who did not have the right to the throne (his mother Crown Princess Mette-Marit had him from another relationship), was creating a relationship with a woman who had no royal ties.

Reception of the royal family by the people

The Norwegian royal family is seen as very understanding and honest. Due to many misalliances, evidenced by the relationships of the monarchs with the women of the "people". The current King Harald V is the country's well-liked and respected ruler. Unfortunately, as in every family, there is also a so-called "black sheep". Unfortunately, Haakon Magnus plays this role in this one. He is considered a greedy prince who renovated his own properties with state money. Additionally, another case came to light, which depressed Haakon even more. Well, he illegally rented five of his houses, from which he obtained a profit of PLN 1,4 million NOK. So Norwegians don't have good things to say about him something that cannot be said about the rest of the family members.
