Traditional, Polish cuisine. We are starting a special cycle in which we will present, and many of you simply resemble traditional Polish dishes. Polish cuisine is amazing - associated rather with very fatty dishes, but also incredibly tasty. Who among us does not remember tasty dinners at grandma's? Until recently, a traditional Polish dinner had to consist of a soup and a main course, which often featured pork chop, chicken, accompanied by cabbage and potatoes.

Traditional Polish cuisine - a bit of history ...

Each country has its "signature" dishes. Our cuisine is strongly related to the climate in our region, geographic location and our history. For centuries, Polish cuisine was culturally and religiously conditioned. And thus ... it was a combination of the influences of German, Jewish, Italian, French, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Ruthenian, or in the old days Tatar-Turkish cuisine. Today we can recognize that practically every region of Poland has its own dishes - it is amazing and charming. We can distinguish, among others, the following cuisines: Silesian, Greater Poland, Lublin, Pomeranian, Galician, Podhale, Kashubian, Borderlands, Masurian and Warmian, Lesser Poland, Podlasie, Masovian and Kurpie. In Poznań, Greater Poland, we have a potato soup with potatoes, and in the mountains, for example, kwaśnica. Unfortunately, as we wrote earlier, Polish cuisine is considered to be one of the most difficult to digest and caloric cuisines in the world.

Dishes on Polish tables ...

So let's list the most recognizable dishes from Poland. We will describe each dish in more detail in separate materials. Polish dishes that still reign in Polish homes and appear in restaurants serving Polish cuisine:

  • Hunter's stew,
  • baked beans,
  • hooves,
  • cabbage rolls,
  • potato pancakes - in various versions - depending on the region of the country,
  • fish in greek,
  • cucumber soup,
  • split pea soup,
  • cabbage soup,
  • barberry,
  • sheep cheese,
  • Vegetable Salad,
  • blood sausage,
  • Tatar.

To sum up ... Our kitchen is different than that in the world - one of a kind. Tourists from other countries are often delighted with our bigos or potato pancakes. In further publications, we will describe individual dishes in more detail, while encouraging tasting.
