Car insurance in Norway - how it works
In the fjord state, as in many other countries, car owners are insured against civil liability, known as ansvarsforsikring (trafikkforsikring). In some cases, it covers some or all of the damage. What exactly does car insurance in Norway cover?
Which vehicles are covered by the mandatory ansvarsforsikring?
This insurance is compulsory for passenger cars and vans weighing less than three and a half tons. As a rule, the insurance policy is divided into two main types - compulsory (nor. Ansvarsforsikring) and additional, which is the equivalent of Polish AC.
What damage is covered by ansvarsforsikring?
Ansvarsforsikring covers all costs in the event of direct injury. The situation is different when it comes to damage to vehicles, buildings or objects. In this case, there is an upper compensation limit of NOK 10 million. But beware, ansvarsforsikring does not include its own car.

In addition, it is possible to purchase a policy that guarantees payment of additional money in the event of injuries sustained during an accident, regardless of the standard payment from ansvarsforsikring).
