- The fall in the number of jobseekers in June is the largest since last September. The decline is greatest among those who are fully unemployed, and especially among those who are completely made redundant. This is a clear consequence of the reopening both domestically and especially in Oslo and Viken, says director of labor and social services, Hans Christian Holte.

The largest decline in unemployment in tourism and transport

The number of jobseekers decreased in all occupational groups from May to June, except for those with no or unknown vocational education. The decline was greatest among people with education in tourism and transport, working in shops and sales, and service professions. The largest number of completely unemployed people was in tourism and transport, with 6 there were fewer people who were completely unemployed than a month ago, after taking into account normal seasonal fluctuations.

– Decrease in the number of people job seekers this month is clearly the largest among the professional groups that have suffered the most from the corona crisis, which is gratifying, says Holte. At the end of June, the share of completely unemployed people was highest in tourism and transport (6,8% of the labor force), and lowest in academic professions - 0,8%.

The biggest drops are in Oslo and Viken

Fall in all age groups

The number of jobseekers decreased in all age groups in June, with the largest decrease occurring among people aged 20-29 (-10%). Both the number of people who are fully and partially unemployed have fallen sharply in this age group. At the end of June, the percentage of fully unemployed is highest in the 30-39 age group (3,9% of the workforce) and lowest among people under 20 (1,6%).

A sharp decline in the number of jobseekers. High job demand

In June, 57 new vacancies were registered on arbeidsplassen.no. The largest number of new job advertisements appeared in the areas of health, nursing and care (100), construction (9) and tourism and transport (800). Vacancies in tourism and transport have increased especially in recent months, along with the reopening.
