The services were notified about the incident this morning just before 7 a.m. The accident took place in the parking lot at Elias Smiths Street in Sandvika. It is known that the driver is a woman and that she was alone in the car when the accident occurred. She did not suffer any serious injuries, but ambulance staff believe she could be at risk of serious internal injuries after falling two stories down. Therefore, the woman was taken to hospital in Bærum, says Bjørn Gunnar Nysæter, police operations manager.
The car ran over the railing
The woman was alone in the car. She was pulled from the vehicle by the services, reports Bjørn Operations Manager Gunnar Nysæter. The police are working on investigating the incident and are unaware of how the car ran over the railings and ended up in the shaft.

The car fell into a shaft blocked by a steel grate. That is why we invited a man who would get rid of the obstacle in order to reach the driver as soon as possible and provide help. It was a priority, says Aas. The arriving person had to use an angle grinder to get through the mesh and reach the driver.
Bjørn Gunnar Nysæter says he doesn't know exactly what caused the driver to run the car over the railing. However, it is suspected that the accident must have happened while parking.
- The car broke the railing and landed in the glass in the center of the garage, about five meters down - says Jan Malin, a policeman working on the spot. The railing was next to the car, and there is a lot of glass where the railing stood.
Bærum Kranservice has been called and will try to get the car out of the shaft. Operations Manager Bjørn Gunnar Nysæter says there is hardly any hope that it will be done in a short time.
