The past day was full of emotions and unpleasant news. A deputy of the Civic Platform (Platforma Obywatelska) filed a complaint against TVP, and Irena Santor was hospitalized. Disabled people and their guardians are still protesting in the Sejm.

Black clouds over TVP

An MP from the Civic Platform, Agnieszka Pomaska, filed a complaint regarding alleged manipulation in one of the May editions of "Wiadomości". In his letter, he alleges that in a broadcast about the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. Editor Bartłomiej Graczak manipulated the museum into dividing Holocaust victims into Jews and non-Jews, using too laconic statements. The museum itself responded to the accusation on the same day, and the National Broadcasting Council initiated explanatory proceedings. Analysis of the material showed that the report "did not fully reflect the message contained in the Museum's statement." Despite the irregularities, the National Broadcasting Council decided not to take disciplinary actions.
This is not the only accusation against TVP recently. Opposition MPs: Adam Szłapka from Nowoczesna, Jan Grabiec from PO and Jakub Stefaniak from PSL demand that Michał Rachoń be removed from running the journalistic program "Woronicza 17". Politicians call Rachoń "the envoy of the PIS" and the "minister of propaganda" who openly discriminates against representatives of the opposition ...

Santor in the hospital

Irena Santor was taken to the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration in Warsaw with a suspected stroke. There is speculation about the singer's speech problems and the debilitating permanent stress. Who accompanies her due to the illness of her husband, Zbigniew Korpolewski, who has recently undergone major heart surgery. For this reason, the artist has been living in the House of Veterans of Polish Stage Artists in Skolimów for the last few months - as she was unable to provide her husband with the care that his state of health imposed. Grażyna Miczka, Irena Santor's manager, issued a statement from which it follows that the star probably does not suffer from anything serious and will soon leave the hospital. We wish the icons of Polish contemporary music and her husband to recover as soon as possible.

 Disabled people in the Sejm

Since April 18, the protesters have been adamant in their demands. They expect real material help, which in the face of the dramatic situation of many parents of disabled children would turn out to be a salvation. Parents expect the social disability pension to be equalized with the minimum disability pension, as well as the establishment of a rehabilitation donation in the target amount of PLN 500 for all disabled people unable to work independently after reaching the age of 18. The protesters announce that they will not leave the Seym until their demands are fulfilled. The government, in turn, passed a law increasing the amount of the lowest pension by slightly more than PLN 150, and the second one, which is to facilitate access to health care or pharmaceutical services for citizens with severe disabilities. Both will enter into force upon being signed by the president.
