3 problems of an immigrant - how to deal with them?

. From a financial point of view, living and working abroad are full of bonuses. The opportunity to work in a learned profession, decent money, a chance to provide a better life and start for your children. However, this is only one side of the coin. Over time, we begin to experience problems that we were not aware of before.

1. Longing and depression

A problem that affects everyone who left alone, without their family. At first we do not feel longing, but this changes over time. Ultimately, longing turns into a feeling of depression. We are supposedly fulfilling the purpose for which we came here, which is to improve our financial situation. There seems to be some contact with the family, but only telephone calls or the Internet does not satisfy our desire to be with our own family.

How to cope?

If you feel that your longing is bothering you more and more, and as a result you feel more and more depressed, it's time to ask yourself three basic questions:

  1. What makes you feel depressed?
  2. How do you know it?
  3. In what situations do you most often feel this way?

Just finding answers to them will make you feel better. It will also help you to be aware of the specific reasons why you are down. You will also be given the opportunity to avoid situations that bring you into such a state. And in the most difficult moments, remember the PURPOSE you came here for.

2. Problems of the emigrant. Stress in emigration

The feeling of stress accompanies us almost always. But why is this problem particularly felt among emigrants? Mainly because you are away from your everyday surroundings. You also have fewer options to counteract this feeling. Stress at first is associated with a new place of life. Over time, it turns into stress related to the need to perform well at workthat you care about. You want to get promoted, not lose your position, and ultimately - earn even more to save as much as possible.

How to deal with stress?

There are many ways to deal with stress. Take, for example, your daily work situation. Do you get stressed every time your boss gives you orders? Ask yourself: Why am I anxious when my boss gives me orders? Most likely, it is your fear that you will not understand him and that you will do your job poorly. What can you do? It's best to ask your boss to repeat the command again, arguing that you may not fully understand it.

What conclusion from the example above?

In order to effectively counteract stress, try to write down all the situations that are problematic for you. Also think about the consequences if you can't handle the situation. Then find a solution to the problem when this happens. This will make you feel more confident - because you will be prepared for the consequences!

3. Low self-esteem

It's obvious - we don't feel confident in our new surroundings. Over time, this can weigh heavily on our self-esteem. The fact that everything is different here - language, habits and even food - does not help to improve the situation. There are many reasons for such low self-esteem and can be enumerated endlessly. But why focus on them?

The emigrant's problems. Think about strengths

It is best to start improving your self-esteem by listing the problems that you had to face while planning your trip. It is best to do this by picking up a blank A4 sheet and writing down all the challenges on it, for example: I had to put it down, I had to overcome my fear of the unknown, I had to take matters into my own hands etc. Then try to list all your features that made you able to meet these challenges, for example: I was able to leave because I always bring things to an end. The list of these features is will be your strengths. They are worth focusing on, because they are your way to success.

Everything in your hands

Life in exile is not as easy as it seems at first. We are tempted the prospect of taking up a better job and provide for their family. However, after some time, you start to have problems that you were not aware of before. Longing and depression, stress, and low self-esteem - everyone has to face this. Fortunately, there are ways to do it. By following the above advice, you will feel better and achieve your goal of providing yourself and your family with a decent life.
