Colorful, with all kinds of patterns, to which we are so used to that we often cannot imagine drinking water, juice or any other drink without its presence. For us, it is just a moment of pleasure, adding comfort to the consumption of a drink, and for the environment it is a huge havoc.
Lots of plastic
In the UK alone, 42 billion plastic straws are used annually. These are unimaginable amounts that are generated not only by England but also by all the countries of the world. The aforementioned country has announced it will fight the scourge and is planning to ban their sale in 2019. In Poland, a considerable amount of straws is thrown away, as much as three million… A DAY. A very small proportion is recycled, and the remainder is broken down for 200 years. Annually, as much as 8 million non-recyclable plastic waste goes to the sea.
How to live without a straw?
Probably many of us cannot imagine ordering a drink in a bar without taking a disposable straw. So in the head the question arises "How to replace them if they are harmful to our environment?" The answer is really very simple because it is enough to have reusable straws that we can carry with us and simply use them when needed. There are many products of this type on the market that will allow us to take care of the environment, e.g. metal straws, glass straws, but also those made of paper or bamboo.
HERE YOU DRINK WITHOUT A STRAW
The TU DRINKS WITHOUT A STRAW campaign has started in Poland, the aim of which is to withdraw harmful, plastic straws from pubs, bars, restaurants and all places where they are used. The spot promoting this action was attended by Polish stars who, during the short film, boldly say that they are responsible for the death of many sea animals, because these are exposed to suffering by us every day. The millions of straws that end up in the sea each year can do a lot of harm to its inhabitants.
Together, we can do a lot
A plastic straw seems to be something inconspicuous and harmless, but to know the power of its devastation in the environment, we can search for all the photos available on the Internet that show the power of evil. Before straws made of a material other than plastic appear in bars, restaurants, etc., we can start the change with ourselves and stock up on our own, reusable straws.
