There is a dispute within FHI over the need for booster doses in the 18–64 age group. The knowledge base is too weak to assess the benefits and risks.

It is included in the professional bases of the National Institute of Public Health, which they provided to the Ministry of Health.

At present, it does not appear that protection after two doses of the vaccine is reduced in the population under the age of 65. At the same time, the increase in infection in society increases the risk of more people becoming infected and becoming seriously ill.

A refreshing dose for this group may increase protection, but the effect and duration are uncertain.

A dispute with FHI about the need for a third dose. Poor knowledge base

It is also a fact that a large part of the world's countries have very low vaccination coverage and that a possible third dose refresher for the 18-64 age group in Norway will be introduced based on a weak knowledge base.

The National Institute of Public Health has started work on facilitating the logistics of vaccinations with a refreshing dose in the 18-64 age group, so that if a decision is made, it would be prepared for it.

Changes in dosing interval for 16-17 year olds

The FHI recommends changing the dosing interval between the first and second doses in adolescents 16 to 17 years of age. With the twelve-week recommendation, this interval can now be shortened to eight out of twelve weeks. This may result in this group being fully vaccinated more quickly, thus reducing infection.

It is said that a shortened interval for this group should not take priority over those who have a greater need for immunization.
