Shop clerk is the profession with the most people in Norway, followed by health care worker and help in kindergarten and after-school centre.

The most frequently performed professions

What profession you do depends on the tasks at work, not on your education or professional title. For example, a person with a degree in civil engineering but working in a grocery store will have the occupation of salesman.

In the table below you can see the ten largest groups of occupations in Norway in 2022 in terms of the number of employees. The figures include both full-time and part-time positions.
