Adequate sleep makes us refreshed, full of life and, above all, healthy. For a long time, however, there has been a dispute about the number of hours that we should spend on sleep. How, so is it really?

Why do we need a dream?

The rush of modern life leads to many opinions that say that sleep is a waste of time and we do not need it at all. Many people say that we shouldn't spend too much time on it. However, the truth is different. We need it as much as air or food. People sleep a third of their lives and it is certainly not wasted time, because during it our body regenerates, the body strengthens, and people who sleep less often fall ill.

The four phases of sleep

Our sleep is divided into four phases. Remember that each of them is very important to us so that we feel well rested. The initial phase, otherwise known as the zero phase, accompanies us while falling asleep and lasts about the first 15 minutes. During this time, our brain rests and its activity slowly decreases. The second phase is when we shut down our consciousness completely. The third phase is the presence of deep sleep, waking up during it can make us feel sleepy and confused. The last phase, i.e. the REM phase, is during this phase that our brain is most active and then there is the greatest chance for dreams to occur.

Problem with getting up in the morning?

Are you one of the people who set the alarm clock for a specific time and take a nap a few times because it's hard for you to get out of bed? This problem may be caused by waking up during deep sleep or phase three. Limit spending too long hours in the evening in front of the TV, with the phone or the computer, then you will not stimulate the eyes, brain and body, causing them to wake up.

How much should we sleep to get enough sleep?

Research at the University of California has shown that the average adult needs 6 to 7 hours of sleep for the body to fully regenerate after a day of intense activity. Sleep is health, and a lack of sleep can cause many heart diseases. Therefore, all of us who value their health, body and healthy lifestyle should find time to sleep.
