It was supposed to be beautiful as ever, it ended as always. After defeats with Senegal (2: 1) and Colombia (3: 0) we say goodbye to this year's World Cup. What is certain is that we are among the eight teams that are known not to leave the group after the second matchday.

We could do that

Robert Lewandowski did not beat around the bush. In an interview given shortly after the meeting, he said that they simply could afford it, which perfectly reflects the scale of the defeat. He also added that “Many things did not work as they should at this World Cup, but if there is nothing to do, nothing can be done. You can't win a match by fighting alone, you have to add quality, and there wasn't enough quality."

This is the end of illusions

However, we must give one thing back - Adam Nawałka did something that his predecessors lacked. He took a risk already in the second match, making as many as four changes. During the previous ones World Cup Both Jerzy Engel and Paweł Janas lacked such courage. Both made drastic adjustments to the lineup only in the third meeting of the so-called "honor". Adam Nawałka decided to defend his honor in the second match against Colombia. However, as the pitch showed - to no avail. Vigorous gesturing from the sideline and encouraging the players to come closer to the Colombian goal did not help. After the second goal, he stood still, and after the third goal, he simply turned around. For the first time in three years he felt like he had no control over anything.

Co dalej?

The White and Reds still have a match against Japan - the highlight of this Championship. However, even a big win will not bring anything to our team. This match should be treated as a "match for honor". It is important to take at least one point away from your rivals. After the match, our team members will return to Poland, and the people administering the national team will have to answer the question "what next?"

A fight to resign?

In our opinion, if Adam Nawałka does not resign himself, the PZPN should not quickly resign from his services. Remember that his team was a sensation during EURO 2016, which reached the quarter-finals. Admittedly, the team from this year's World Cup was only a shadow of what we got used to during the European Championship, World Cup qualifiers and even friendly matches.

The key - to improve the psyche

The players do not lack skills, as well as the tactical sense of the selector. The problem is in the mentality and in blowing the balloon before each tournament. It's time to say it clearly - we are not a football power. We also don't have a winners mentality. The work to be done is to improve the mental condition of the players. At the same time, it is not about arousing football anger in them or encouraging them to win. They do not lack this. It is about developing the ability to fight the pressure that has been imposed by the circles around the representation. We have failed, now is the time for reflection and analysis. Meanwhile, let's still enjoy the World Cup, because this year's edition brings a lot of emotions.
