Plastic and all items made from it now account for more than 70 percent of marine litter. The European Union is making big changes to this material.
Plastic is everywhere
Plastic cutlery, plates, straws, sticks, bottles and many other items are actually everyday items. Man with the naked eye does not see the seriousness of the situation created by the huge amount of waste that is produced from plastic. The waters of the seas and oceans and their inhabitants perceive and experience it most and most drastically.

The European Union is making changes
Exactly from 2021, the EU will not be able to produce plastic products such as cutlery, plates, straws and ear buds. 51 votes in favor of the bill, 10 expressed their opposition and three withheld their sentence. Of course, the above-mentioned products are actually a small scale of those made of plastic. However, for those for whom there is currently no alternative, such as containers for fruit, sandwiches, desserts or vegetables, the EU will limit their use by 2025.
Every country has to help
Supporting such an important initiative as the cessation of production of plastic products is a huge step in the right direction for our Earth. The European Union showed that it supported it, but also ordered each country to act internally. States are to persuade their citizens to use reusable or recyclable products.

Big plans
Following the decision to ban some plastics from plastic, the European Union has recommended several other key changes. They currently have a major impact on the production of large amounts of plastic waste. This includes lost or abandoned fishing equipment, which currently accounts for 27 percent of the waste found in the sea and on European beaches.
A good change
The change that will come in 2021 will be a great and good step towards cleansing our Earth. However, it should be remembered that the European Union is only part of our beautiful world. In fact, all continents must try to save the Earth. After all, the EU is setting a good example. Let us hope that, at her instigation, the rest of the world will also follow in her footsteps.
