The 48th week of 2018 turned out to be a breakthrough in terms of energy prices. The upcoming winter may be severe in terms of energy prices we may incur. It is estimated that the cost per kilowatt hour may be the highest since the greatest crisis in 2011.
The spot price is the current price at which purchase or sale transactions are concluded, but recently a plan to switch to a fixed energy price for a given period has been discussed in Norway. Why? All thanks to 2018, which was characterized by very frequent jumps energy prices, and they were very high. It turns out that the next winter may bring us not only snow and minus temperatures, but also the highest energy prices, which have not been visible since the worst crisis in 2011.

Week 48 of the year
At a time when the negative temperatures disappeared in most of the country, it was the 48th week of 2018 that brought Norwegians an increase in the immediate energy price. In the southern part of the country it was over 80 øre per kilowatt hour. The spot price ranged from around 55 to 63 øre. Yesterday, however, another jump in prices was recorded. In south-eastern and south-western Norway you had to pay 73,69 øre, in central Norway 69,28 and western 71,28 øre. The current energy price is 60% higher than last year.

Is a fixed price a good option?
Many energy companies offer their clients various types of contracts. Spot pricing contracts are the most recommended, but in many cases those with a fixed price can be much more advantageous. This is especially true of periods when the price of energy is likely to rise sharply. Some time ago, Agva Kraft introduced two new offers that had fixed and lower prices than today's spot price. In the above-mentioned company according to one of the two contracts presented, the price per kilowatt hour is 59,90 are and lasts for three months. In the second contract, the price is 58,95 are and is guaranteed by 12 miesięcy.
