New recommendations for Christmas Christmas Nationwide: How to Deal with Large Parties and Overnight Stays.

You should limit Christmas gatherings attended by 10 people to two. Regardless of whether you are a guest or accept them. Your participation should only take place in 2 such meetings of 10 people and you should not receive guests if you have been guests at parties of up to 10 people. Limits apply to all of us.

This is new advice from NIPH and Norwegian Directorate Health. The government asked them to submit their proposals solutions to problems many may face at Christmas: how many parties they can join and what about overnight stays.

These tips are important for people to plan for Christmas and have fun in a safe and good way, says the assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad in VG.

. First things first: basic advice from five guys

This fall and winter, the government has advised that visitors should have a maximum of five guests if there is enough space for everyone to keep their distance. In addition to everyone else in your household, that's five guests. This way you can visit family, children or grandparents for a few days in Christmas.

  • Remember: if all guests are in the same household, there may be more of them. For example, a family of four might be visiting a family of seven.

But can they stay overnight?

Yes, says FHI and Norwegian Directorate for Health. The general recommendation of a maximum of five guests also applies to overnight stays. But guests must sleep in their own room, not with you and your family. not in the same room.

Up to two large Christmas parties, whether you are the host or guest

However, there are exceptions to this twice at Christmas advice for up to five guests. So you might have 6 to 10 guests at two different parties over Christmas and New Year, for example seven guests on Christmas Eve and ten on New Year's Eve.

This only includes Christmas and New Years time.

If you're the host or guest at two parties with 6-10 guests, you shouldn't go to the others, says Norwegian Directorate of Health and NIPH.

– Inviting people to your home for large parties on two different days and then going to two different families on different days is not recommended. If you invited an extra person home number of people for two days, you should no longer attend your friends' parties. it's about limiting our contacts with others, says Nakstad.

  • This is acceptable: on Christmas Day you have a Christmas dinner with nine guests. And on the second day of Christmas, you have dinner with your friends with six guests.
  • It is not advisable: you have a christmas dinner with nine guests. The next day you go out to dinner with friends with six guests. On the third day, we invite seven people home for dinner. There are three big meetings in total - one too many.
  • Warning: these are national councils that apply to everyone, ie whether or not your parish has its own councils. You must always follow the strictest advice or rules.

Night stays

If you follow the advice, you will be assigned to two large meetings with 6-10 guests for Christmas.

But beware: if you have seven guests on Christmas Eve who sleep until Christmas, your quota has been exhausted.

According to the FHI and the Norwegian Health Directorate, you had more than five visitors on two separate days. And then for the rest of Christmas and New Years you should not go to other large families.

Restricting contacts is very important and should be respected by all of us for our own and for the benefit of others.
