Very few of those who are required to test for Covid-19 when entering Norway do not. This shows the counting and census at the border that the police carried out. On the other hand, the numbers show that more people who were not required to take the test did the test.

Travelers take responsibility

"This shows that travelers are taking responsibility for limiting the spread of infection and are doing well at the border," says Chief of Police Lars Aune. The census was carried out from 14 to 17 February at four selected border crossing points with high traffic. In total, 5908 travelers crossed the border during those days.

Those who were not required to be tested tested themselves

People who were required to do so were also tested at all border crossing points. 1874 people came to Gardermoen with the obligation to test and 366 without the obligation, but 1887 people were tested at the test point. At the border crossing in Mangnormoen, 50 people were tested and they were not obliged to do so.

- There is not a high degree of test avoidance

- This means that there is not a high degree of test avoidance. We can't rule out that there are some exceptions, but basically people with such responsibilities apply for testing, Aune says.
He believes the study shows that there is good control over travelers.

- Good cooperation between institutions

"The cooperation between all the institutions playing a major role at the border is good and the coordination between the police and the test stations works," he says.

The four border crossings where the census was carried out are:
Oslo Gardermoen Airport (2240), E6 New Svinesund (1196), E18 Ørje (1050) and Rv2 Magnormoen (1422). The number of travelers in parentheses.
