In connection with two criminal cases in Troms, both the construction / construction services company and the workshop services company were convicted. A district court has ruled for carrying out illegal activities without paying taxes that would benefit the community.

- One thing is, the main ones were doomed. We also investigated several of their clients and imposed penalties for gross tax negligence. The client is also sentenced to imprisonment. Although the amount of payments to customers varied widely, cases show that even private individuals risk being placed on the criminal record if they buy so-called "undeclared work," says police lawyer Mona Madsen of Troms. police district.

Tax crime and consumer liability. Buying "undeclared work"

The tax administration is behind the reports and asked the police to look more closely at customer payments. Tax Crime Manager Erik Nilsen in the Tax Administration believes the verdicts and fines make it clear that customers also need to be aware of who they are dealing with and what they are paying for.

- To put it simply, undeclared work exists because there is a demand. As a consumer, you are not released from the responsibility to conduct your own inquiries in purchasing situations. These cases also highlight the consumer's responsibility to prevent undeclared work, says Nilsen.

Penalty. Clients punished for buying "illegal work"

Fines ranging from 10 to 000 kroner were imposed on 60 customers. That's all for violation of the Penal Code § 380 as gross tax negligence. One client was sentenced to 90 days in prison, both conditional and unconditional. The fines and prison sentence have been imposed and are final.

The main actors were sentenced in the district court this summer and last summer, the sentences are final. The main player in construction services was sentenced to 2 years and 3 months imprisonment and confiscation of NOK 1. The main player in workshop services was sentenced to 642 months in prison and confiscated NOK 082. In addition, the cases had tax ramifications for the main actors in the form of increased taxes and fees.
