One year on Monday, Svein Andersen was the first in Norway to receive the vaccine.

Andersen, who lives in Oslo's Ellingsrudhjemmet, was the first in Norway to receive the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, writes Avis Oslo.

"I was hoping that the vaccines had a better outcome and that the disease would end," he tells the paper.

Andersen also received his third dose. It is thus one of the 21,7 percent of the Oslo population and 26,6 percent of the Norwegian population over 18 who received it.

Signals say the new omicron mutation is not that dangerous, so it could be the end of the pandemic. But we can't take it for granted yet. We'll probably have to be careful for a while, says Andersen.

The 68-year-old was nicknamed "Armstrong" after receiving the first two doses of the vaccine, as the event was compared to Neil Armstrong's moon landing.
