The comparison of Norwegian and SAS airline ticket prices is shocking because it turns out that we will pay less for a flight abroad. People traveling across the country by plane pay more for a ticket. Why?
Domestic air travel in Norway
The price comparison of two airlines, Norwegian and SAS, was made by NRK, and the matching of tickets was made on one day. As a result of the analysis where the starting point of each flight is Oslo airport, it turns out that it is cheaper to fly abroad than to make a domestic trip. If we plan to travel from Oslo to Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim or Kristiansand, we will pay NOK 799 for a flight with Norwegian, and NOK 949 with SAS. However, if our trip were to Copenhagen, our ticket would cost NOK 499 in Norwegian and NOK 669 in SAS. We meet similar prices when traveling to Stockholm because we will fly with Norwegian for NOK 449, and with SAS for NOK 769.

Where does this difference come from?
Professor of innovation at the Norwegian School of Economics, Tor Wallin Andreassen, reports that the reason why ticket prices in the country are higher is the low competition among airlines. NRK finally checked the prices of return tickets because if we "flew", we also have to come back. According to the analysis, it turns out that the return ticket was relatively more expensive. The professor explains that airlines often use a low departure price to demand an appropriate price for a return ticket.
