East Oslo has not enjoyed a good streak recently. As a result of frequent reports of brawls and disturbances, the Minister of Justice decided to strengthen the police forces that operate in the area. In turn, the Warsaw police appealed to the "Night Ravens" to limit night civil patrols.

What's going on there?

On 01.05.2018/23/00, after 17:20, the police received a report about a fight and a fight involving young people. Between XNUMX and XNUMX people were involved in it, most of them already well known to the Norwegian police. Fortunately, no one was hurt in this clash, and no one was arrested. Nevertheless, tensions and unrest in eastern Oslo continue to increase.

Attacks on civil patrols

The "Nocne Kruki" organization has been operating in this part of the city for some time. It is a voluntary formation made up of citizens. Their job is to keep the streets of Oslo safe. To this end, they send out night patrols that inform the police immediately of any perceived disturbances, disturbances, fights, fights and other offenses.

This organization, however, is unwelcome in eastern Oslo. There was an incident last weekend in which members of the vigilante army were attacked and thrown stones at them. The attackers were identified as members of gangs operating in this part of the city.

More and more dangerous

Police received other reports last weekend. They concerned incidents involving the use of firearms. The first shots were recorded near the Vestli pizzeria. The second case was in the Stovner district. Fortunately, no one was injured, but this is evidence of declining security in eastern Oslo.

More policemen

In connection with recent events, Tor Mikkel Wara from the Progressive Party - the current Minister of Justice - decided to strengthen the police forces that operate in Oslo. Branches were increased by 30 posts. As Cathrine Sylju - a policewoman from Oslo points out - it was thanks to these additional people that the escalation of the fight in Vestli was avoided. Were it not for these reinforcements, the effects of this event could have been much more serious.

Reason? Extreme opinions

Recent events prove that Oslo is unable to accept more immigrants, says the Minister of Justice. In his opinion, the organization of gangs, which are becoming stronger, is dictated by cultural differences and ethnic origin, which is a consequence of the previous government's migration policy. For this reason, the Progressive Party is considering adopting Danish solutions in the field of migration policy, which provides, inter alia, restriction of settlement in zones threatened with the formation of ghettos.

The position of the Labor Party is different

Oslo City Councilor Raymund Johansen of the Labor Party, however, disagrees. He looks for the reasons for the growing tension in eastern Oslo in the poverty that is worsening in this area. He adds that although the Progress Party has had its ministers of justice for over five years, only now has it been decided to do something to improve the security of this part of the capital. He does not hide his satisfaction with this fact, but mentions that the decisions to strengthen the police forces should have been taken a long time ago. This would prevent the growth of gangs that operate in this part of the city.
