Columbia Broadcasting System is the premier radio and television station in the United States. Its president and executive director, Leslie Moonves, has lost his position. His employees accused him of harassment.

Leslie Moonves

He was associated with the CBS station for quite a long time, since 1995, where he performed a number of functions. He has been the executive director for over 10 years, and in 2016 he became its president. His contract with the station was to last until 2021, but testimony from many women changed the course of events.

The first signs

At the turn of July and August, the weekly "New Yorker" published the first testimonies of women who were former and current employees of CBS. The text with them described situations from the past that clearly indicated that they were victims of sexual harassment by CBS president Leslie Moonves. In the testimony, we can read that the man forced the women to kiss, but also touched them without their consent. The published article indicated 30 such cases.

New informations

Sunday was the day the New Yorker released the latest news on the CBS harassment scandal. As is often the case in such situations, if there is one brave woman who starts talking about the problem, more will appear in a moment because they feel that they are not alone. So it was this time. The second article by the same author, Ronan Faroow, revealed more shocking stories of more women who had been harmed.

Fast response from CBS stations

The station did not allow long to take a position on this matter. An internal investigation was launched immediately, and in addition to a second New Yorker article, the station stated that Leslie Moonves had been relieved of his duties.

Compensation

CBS also made a decision to pay, along with the perpetrator of all the confusion, $ 20 million to women's organizations supporting the #Metoo movement. Let me remind you that this is a symbol that appeared in October 2017, when it was supposed to draw attention to the problem of sexual harassment, which was perpetrated by the famous Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein on many women.
