Piwnica pod Baranami - how did it start?
Before he shows up , it is worth quoting some information. It is a literary club founded in 1956 in Krakow by Piotr Skrzynecki. Among the founders there were also representatives of the student community in Krakow, incl. Bronisław Chromy and Krzysztof Panderecki. Over the years, literary songs as well as short stage forms were created there.
Jazz center
In the 50s of the last century Cellar under the Rams became the Polish center of jazz. Artists such as: Jerzy Matuszkiewicz, Andrzej Trzaskowski, Krzysztof Komeda, Andrzej Kurylewicz, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Andzej Dąbrowski, Wojciech Karolak, and Zbigniew Namysłowski have played their concerts here. A decade later, their concerts also began to play, among others Tomasz Stańko, Janusz Muniak, Jan Jarczyk and Janusz Stefański.

The jazz tradition was returned in 1996. Since then, it has been organized every year Summer Jazz Festival in Piwnica pod Baranami. In turn, in 2007 it was reactivated Jazz Club pod Baranamiwho plays their concerts on Thursdays. The project is managed by Marek Andrzej Michalak.
