Today we celebrate New Year's Eve. We will soon enter the New Year 2020. We believe that this is the perfect time to raise security issues. First of all, safety in public places. According to the latest reports, there are too few police patrols in Oslo. Unfortunately, Oslo residents do not feel safe. In addition, there are an increasing number of crimes in the capital Oslo. Especially those committed by minors. It is worth noting that statistically at the moment there are two policemen per thousand inhabitants. Let's be honest, in this day and age, it's not enough. What are the police doing to strengthen our security in the Norwegian capital? More on that below!

What actions have already been taken?

Wictor Furøy, head of the police patrol section in Oslo, in an interview with NRK emphasizes that the police are doing everything possible to increase the number of police patrols in the near future:

“We are doing what we can, but we clearly feel staff shortages. There are no more and more patrols that should intervene where necessary people call us and expect help. My colleagues and I feel guilty when the caller fails they receive help, because patrols are directed to, in our opinion, more urgent situations.

The restructuring of the police structure is essential

Increasing the number police patrols are one thing. Restructuring the police structure is equally important, he emphasizes Minister of Justice Jøran Kallmyr (Frp):

We proposed, among other things, an increase police budget next year by 400 million. The main goal is to increase investigative capacity and employment larger number policemen.

To sum up - we do not feel safe in the capital of Oslo!

Do you feel safe in Oslo? Are you not afraid to walk around in the evening? cities of Norway? Let us remind you: until recently Norway was considered the safest country in Europe, if not all over the world. Today, the number of crimes is increasing and this is it a disturbing trend.
