Emigrating to Norway is always associated with some kind of uncertainty and stress. How to prepare for a trip to Norway? What do we need to remember? Read! Work: going to Norway - remember about formalities before departure ...

You have to deal with some matters before departure. The basis is a valid ID card. It is also worth having your passport on hand. It is true that we can cross the border with Norway without it, but it can be useful, among other things, when opening a bank account. If you do not have a valid ID card, do not create it at the last minute. The waiting time is sometimes even several weeks.

Basic knowledge of English and Norwegian is essential!

You will learn Norwegian in practice. At work, when you have to use English / Norwegian every day, you will quickly find the most important phrases / words that will help in everyday life in Norway. However, it is worth knowing at least the basics of English and Norwegian to feel comfortable at the airport, in a hotel or when getting your first job. A quick language course before departure? Yes, that's a funny idea!

Job search in Norway. Start in Poland!

It is a good practice to start looking for a job in Poland. We can send CVs via the Internet from virtually every corner of the world. Use trusted advertising portals: www.finn.no or www.nav.no. The list of such offer places is of course much larger. Remember! You are applying to a Norwegian company: your CV must be in Norwegian.

Going to Norway - remember about the apartment!

Some companies offer accommodation work. If you did not get such employment. You can find rental offers between finn.no or hybel.no. When signing a rental agreement, a 3-month deposit is usually required, paid to the bank account.

Arriving in Norway - registering your stay.

The most important formalities after arriving in Norway:

  • ordering a tax card - do you get an employment contract? Go to the Tax Office - Skatteetaten. Forms and applications are available at the office. If this is our first stay in Norway, we will receive a personal number, the so-called D-nummmer. If we are longer, we can register in Norway,
  • visit to the police or the Center for Foreigners - registration at UDI. Take your passport, ID card, personal number, the last three receipts of salary payment and an employment contract. Make the registration.
