Bodø commune reports on the still challenging situation with ongoing infections with the South African variant of the virus. The government implemented regional measures for Bodø and surrounding municipalities from March 13. The measures were to run until March 19. However, at the request of municipalities and dialogue with the state administrator, the Norwegian Health Directorate and the National Institute of Public Health, the funds are now being extended until April 11th.
The surrounding municipalities are concerned about the spread of infection from Bodø
- The infection situation in Bodø is unstable and developing. Although infection in the surrounding municipalities is currently low, they are concerned about the spread of infection from Bodø. Bodø and nine surrounding municipalities want the government to continue regional efforts at the same level as it does today. The government is therefore extending the measures until April 11, says Health and Welfare Minister Bent Høie.
Municipalities must at all times independently assess whether reinforced measures are needed
Bodø municipality continues to operate at level A (particularly high level of appropriations). The other nine municipalities, Beiarn, Fauske, Gildeskål, Hamarøy, Meløy, Rødøy, Saltdal, Steigen and Sørfold, continue to operate at C level.
More about regional measures
The government can decide which measures to implement in the municipality and surrounding municipalities when rapid and coordinated implementation of measures is essential to counter the spread of infection. The level of measures selected for municipalities depends on the severity of the outbreak.
