The president of the Storting decided that a review of the rules of the housing program for commuters of the Storting representatives would be carried out. The purpose of the review is to make sure that the rules are in place as much as possible consistent with the intention of the program. Conditions for allocation, reporting and control requirements will be part of the review. The Commission submits its report to the Storting Presidency by 1 October 2022.

Eva Kristin Hansen received NOK 444576 from the Commuter Scheme

Recently, Eva Kristin Hansen was hit by a wave of criticism when it was revealed that she had been given a free flat for commuters. Hansen lives in Ski, which is just 29 km from Oslo. In order to receive a free flat for commuters, this limit is 40 km. It should be added that Hansen has lived in Ski for many years and the address she gave the Storting is in Trondheim. Eva Kristin Hansen from the commuter program received NOK 444576, as reported by Storting director Marianne Anderssen.

All this is for good regulatory practice

All this is for good regulatory practice, says committee chairman Therese Johnsen, who has experience in, inter alia, in the Office of the Auditor General.

- This committee is carefully selected, wide-ranging, competent and with the necessary independence, says First Vice President Svein Harberg.

What about Eva Kristin Hansen?

Unfortunately, the committee will not deal with individual cases. However, the Oslo Police District reports that the case will be investigated for fraud.

Eva Kristin Hansen is a Norwegian politician who was elected president of the Storting on October 9, 2021.On November 18, 2021, information appeared that she had not complied with the rules governing the allocation of housing under the Storting Storting's commuter program. Hansen resigned.
