The EEA Authority Esa approved the urgent measures that the Norwegian authorities have implemented to contain the outbreak of avian influenza in Rogaland.

The measures include the establishment of protection and surveillance zones around the farm where the disease was detected earlier this month. Informs the supervisory authority in a press release.

EEA regulations require the ESA to approve such measures in order to ensure animal welfare and prevent trade within the EEA from being affected to a degree that ensures safety.

Recently, in the commune of Klepp in Rogaland, cases of avian influenza have been confirmed in two flocks of laying hens. All 7500 hens were killed.
