The FHI confirmed that one of the participants in the Oslo event was infected with the omicron variant

The National Institute of Public Health confirmed the case yesterday through whole genome sequencing. One of the participants at the Oslo event is infected with the omicron variant SARS-CoV-2. Work is currently underway on mapping how many people have become infected with this variant.

All participants of the event were recommended to be tested earlier, and the vaccination was high in the group.

The number of reported cases belonging to the outbreak is currently (02.12.21/50/XNUMX) more than XNUMX cases. Efforts are being made to find out how many people are infected with the omicron variant. 

According to FHI, the participants live in Oslo and in several municipalities around Oslo. The Oslo Infection Detection Team has contacted the municipalities concerned to start the infection detection process. 

Work is underway on mapping how many people have become infected with this variant

The Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) is a new variant of the coronavirus. It was first recorded in Botswana on November 11, 2021 and November 14 in South Africa. This variant has been observed since then alreadyż in several European countries with South African travelers.
