Does your life insurance cover you if you die after vaccination ?. Yes, all the insurance companies we spoke to responded. Nobody claims to have their own vaccine or unvaccinated or unvaccinated exceptions or provisions in their insurance policies.

Both in Norway and around the world, information appears on social media that an insurance policy for life will not cover deaths as a result vaccinations. For example, a Norwegian Facebook post stated that life insurance does not cover vaccine-related deaths.

"I heard about this before that insurance companies do not cover vaccine deaths," writes the comments.

World entries

Among other things, it sends to French blog post and article in finances published in March 2021 entitled. "Insurance without a guarantee of payment in the event of post-vaccination death".

Faktisk.no contacted the insurance companies KLP, Gjensidige, If, Tryg, Fremtind, Eika, Frende and Storebrand. We asked what would apply in the event of illness, disability or death as a result of vaccination.

Insurance companies' position

They all answer that disability and death insurance will also cover disability or death as a result of vaccinations. On a par with other diseases.

If and Frende have previously published their own statements, emphasizing that they will include complications from the COVID-19 vaccination.

“Our customers should be able to take the vaccine knowing they are covered if something unforeseen happens. Andreas Handeland, communications manager at If, said in a press release last April.

“We understand many people wonder before getting vaccinated, but you can be absolutely sure that our insurance covers disability and death. This applies in exactly the same way for the coronavirus disease or vaccination as it is for other diseases, Frende wrote in a statement in September 2021.

Any private insurance is in addition to the rights everyone has in Norway. Faktisk.no wrote earlier about the liability of the state for vaccine injuries.

Accident insurance

In the article, both Gjensidige and Storebrand stated that accident insurance will not cover death after vaccination. But he will do it life insurance with death insurance.

The same answer is given by insurance companies for Faktisk.no. Most people are covered by Invalidity / Invalidity and Life / Death insurance for any reason. This also applies if illness or death is caused by a vaccine or the coronavirus.

This applies unless the customer has a medical condition that was already known at the time the insurance was purchased. The insurance also does not cover diseases or conditions occurring during the grace period.

When you take out this type of insurance, the company will evaluate your health. You can get insurance that has exceptions for illnesses or conditions you already have - or you have an additional risk of getting sick.

Insurance and Payout Exception

Unless the vaccine (or Covid-19 disease) causes the disease for which you have an exception, you will be covered as usual.

Storebrand also doesn't have any restrictions directly related to vaccination in its reach, says communications director Margrethe Assev.

"If someone becomes seriously ill and becomes disabled or dies after vaccination, the insured person will receive a compensation payment without any reduction," Assev writes.

– Customers who have group life insurance, sickness insurance, sick pay insurance, sickness insurance and income insurance. They will also be covered in the event of sickness or death (in the event of death) as a result of the coronavirus vaccine or COVID-19 disease, writes Ole Irgens, communications manager at Tryg.

Various insurance companies state that in addition to insurance covering disability or death, various health insurance and medical, critical health insurance (often specific diagnoses) and child insurance may all play a role in vaccine-related injuries.
