Norway - Wanted employee with experience

The demand for labor is growing. The number of vacancies has increased in recent months and unemployment has fallen. This is shown by the labor force survey conducted by the Statistics Norway (SSB).

From August to November, the number of jobs increased by 2%. Over the same period, unemployment fell from 4% to 3,5%, reports Statistics Norway.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, unemployment was 3,4%.

The positive development of the number of jobs started in May last year. The need for workers increased even more after the gradual opening of the society in late autumn.

- Preliminary data for December show the same picture, with jobs increasing by 0,3 percent, says Tonje Køber, head of the labor market and wages department at the Norwegian statistics office.

From August to November, there were 16. fewer unemployed and 25 thousand. more employees. Unemployment has now returned to pre-pandemic levels, but there is still a record number of vacancies available.

New measures and restrictions were introduced in December which are likely to affect this year's data, but it is not yet certain how this will translate into numbers.
