Norwegian Directorate Health Minister clears up misconception: that you will be released from quarantine if your test result is negative. Nothing could be further from the truth.

We hear examples of people who think they need to get tested and get tested because they have to be quarantined after close contact with an infected person. – says the deputy director for health Espen Rostrup Nakstad. This is not necessary if you do not have symptoms yourself. In any case, such a test will not make you give up early quarantinesays Nakstad.

If you just want to prove yourself so you can go to work or school, it doesn't make much sense. Because you shouldn't - whether or not the test result is negative.

Ten days of quarantine are inevitable.

The Norwegian Health Directorate is clear on the following issues:

  • If you've had close contact with an infected person, you should be in quarantine for ten days no matter what
  • If you've traveled in the red country , you will be quarantined for ten days no matter what. Unless you are an employee seasonal or you are not subject to other exceptions under COVID-19 regulations.
  • If you have symptoms recent respiratory infection, stay home.

A negative test result only tells you that you are not contagious on the day you take the test, emphasizes Nakstad.

Nadal you may develop the disease throughout the quarantine period, without even noticing it. We are therefore required to quarantine for ten days for all close contacts and after traveling to The "red countries".
