This winter, many workers will cross the Norwegian border. Many of them come from countries with high infection rates and low Covid-19 vaccination rates. Check what foreign workers must have before entering Norway.

Are you a foreign worker or entrepreneur traveling to Norway to work / contract? Before coming to Norway, make sure you are prepared for it.

There are no special restrictions on entry to Norway due to the crown. Nevertheless, there are strict requirements regarding, among other things, registration and testing on entry.

Here you will find information on what everyone coming to Norway to work must have before coming:

Everyone must register with the entry register (entrynorway.no). The register must, inter alia, provide the following information:

  • If you have been vaccinated or if you have had COVID-19, you must document it with a valid corona certificate.
  • Suitable place of residence. You must be able to document it.
  • Who is your employer or principal.

When entering Norway, you must also test for COVID-19 at the airport or border crossing. More information about the tests (helsenorge.no).

Have you been vaccinated or have you had COVID-19 in the last 6 months?

You can travel to Norway if you have been fully vaccinated or have had COVID-19 in the last 6 months and you can document this with a valid corona certificate.

If you are not fully vaccinated or have COVID-19, the following steps apply::

Before coming to Norway

1. You need to find out if you are required to remain in entry quarantine.

2. You must have your COVID-19 test negative certificate with you. You must take the test within the last 24 hours.

3. If you are required to undergo an entry quarantine, you must remain in your own home or other suitable residence. A suitable place to stay is a place where close contact with others can be avoided, with a private room, private bathroom, own kitchen or with board.

If you will stay in a place of residence that your employer makes available to you during the entry quarantine, then this place of residence must be approved by the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate in advance

If you do not have your own apartment or suitable place to stay, you can quarantine entry in a quarantine hotel. If you have an employer or principal in Norway, they should pay an excess of the cost of staying in a quarantine hotel of NOK 500 per night

4. If you are in an entry quarantine, you must, as a rule, be in quarantine for a period of 10 days. The quarantine period may be reduced if you have received a negative PCR test result not earlier than the third day after your arrival in Norway. Find out more about the entry quarantine (helsenorge.no).

5. The National center for control of travelers to Norway will contact you by SMS or by phone. The center staff will then inform you about the applicable regulations. The control center can also notify the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate (Arbeidstilsynet) and the municipalities that will monitor business travelers.

You are responsible for complying with the laws relating to protection against infection and the spread of COVID-19 in Norway.
