Coronavirus. Returning from Poland to Norway with the obligation to quarantine

From midnight on August 15, the government of Norway introduces a quarantine obligation for people returning from Poland. Advice for travel to Poland, Malta, Iceland, Cyprus, the Faroe Islands and the Netherlands, and several regions in Denmark and Sweden. This is due to the increasing infection rates in the country in recent weeks.

After returning to Norway, you must undergo a 10-day quarantine period.

 

New quarantine obligation

From today, the government will reintroduce the obligation quarantine for all close contacts of a confirmed infected person. The quarantine obligation will therefore apply again to anyone who has had close contact with infected person - and not just household members.

If you are coming to Norway from:

  • "Yellow area", you are not in quarantine.
  • "Red area", you must be quarantined and it is mandatory.
  • "Shadow area", you must be quarantined. The shaded area has not been assessed or the data on infection pressure are insufficient. Until further notice, you must be quarantined if you are coming to Norway from these countries.

It's like a traffic light: don't drive yellow, says Solberg.

. We cannot prohibit people from traveling, but we can say that we do not recommend it and that traveling to certain countries will result in quarantine, says Solberg.

To avoid confusion and to clarify this recommendation, let's avoid any unnecessary travel abroad, the government has decided that countries that were previously green on the map will now turn yellow. No country is green now.

The yellow color is meant to stop everyone. It draws attention to the fact that traveling carries a higher risk of infection as the yellow country may turn red soon, Health Minister Bent Høie said at a press conference.

Not only Poland. Sweden - Värmland turns red

These five Swedish regions are now red:

  • Varmland
  • Östergötland
  • Blekinge
  • Uppsala
  • Dalarna
  • Orebro
