These people will create and publish content on the commune's social media, websites and other communication channels. They will show how we can live more environmentally friendly lives. There are no formal requirements for people to have an education or experience in communication or climate and environmental protection, and Environmental Manager Jane Nilsen Aalhus points out that these are learning positions.
Most importantly, those who come forward have an interest in the climate and the environment and have a commitment and willingness to pass on good climate and environmental choices to the rest of Stavanger. We will track those we hire in both the climate and environment department and the communications department, so this is a great opportunity to both have meaningful part-time work and gain valuable experience, '' he says.
Possibility to design your own work day
The pilot project, which initially ends at the end of the year, is a further development of the participatory work that the commune carried out in several primary, middle and high schools in 2021 and 2022.
- This is a project where young people will be able to create content they think is good so that communication becomes more relevant to the youngest target group, says Nilsen Aalhus.
It also indicates that employed persons have the ability to further influence the project and process.
- The people we employ have the opportunity to further co-create the project. If we are to reach new target groups, we must also dare to work in new ways. This project is an innovative project for young people and for young people. Then we have to give them space to influence how we should work - says the head of environmental protection.
