This year, the Norwegian government awarded 4 million crowns to initiatives and commitment to improving road safety across the country.
– It is a shared responsibility to ensure that we can all travel safely on the road. That's why this year we're donating NOK 4 million to support small and large initiatives and commit to improving road safety across the country. This year, support is specifically targeted at motorcycles, which had a particularly high number of accidents last summer. Cycling activities and other activities aimed at increasing knowledge and competences among children and adolescents, but also older road users, feature prominently in this year's award, says Transport Minister Jon-Ivar Nygård.

The support is directed primarily to activities concerning motorcyclists, who had a particularly high number of accidents last year. Activities aimed at increasing the knowledge and competences of children, youth and older road users will also receive support.
The Department of Transport and Communications provided grants for a number of projects. Funding will go to Stangaland school in the municipality of Karmøy for the purchase of reflective vests for children, Senior MC Norge for driving skills development courses, Trygg MC for motorcyclist training, Norges Lastebileier-Forbund for the "Friends on the road" project.
The following projects also received funding: Norges Automobil-Forbund for the project "From NAF to Nordkapp - safety relay", Jordet ATV Support for safety courses for young quad drivers and Blindheim Idrettslag for a road safety day for sports club members. The aim of these activities is to reduce the number victims and injured on the roads.
