The application deadline for projects promoting gender equality in fisheries is next week.

- In recent months, many serious cases have arisen regarding fishermen. We continue to work on gender equality issues and encourage fishing companies to do the same. This is Bjørnar Skjæran, the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs.

In view of the strategy for greater gender equality in fisheries, NOK 1,5 million was allocated to gender equality projects in early autumn. The application deadline for such measures is Tuesday 30 November.

Financing gender equality in the fisheries sector

The target groups of the subsidy program are institutions, organizations, foundations, companies and individuals in Norway. The funds benefit the community and involve a national, regional or local community.

Priority to grants is given to actions that can contribute to the recruitment of women as fishermen and fishing boat owners.
